That Golden Woman is a spoken word album that touches on the fabric of reality as perceived through a Virgo’s eyes. That’s literally it. Without an agenda you’d think the album would go nowhere; Lord Bison immediately sets the pace on smooth rails with a stance that falls someplace in between carefree and self-aware. Instead of a soap box, TGW unfolds more as an observational-confessional where sex, family, struggle, weakness, strength and self-image jostle each other in the intimate space of 18 tracks. Low-tech drum rhythms add for good measure the acoustic sandwich to go with meaty, interpretive phrases. It all culminates in a massive, calm exhale and a promise to come back harder with more things for all of us to think on. We’re waiting, Lord Bison.
